You can see me at Across the River Arts, an annual showcase of local visual and performance artists.  On July 12, 7 to 11 p.m. at the Fremont Abbey, twenty-two emerging artists will be on display.  I will be writing new pieces on this year’s theme, the extraordinary in the everyday. I’m hella psyched!  I have wanted to perform in the Abbey since I first saw the Poetry Revival there.   Please consider supporting this show by contributing to http://www.indiegogo.com/extraordinaryintheeveryday.

I am writing a new piece, “The Resurrection Spell,” for the first ever Jesus Slam.  In the new poem, I use the character John the Beloved to work through my recent loss of a former sweetheart, the absolute helplessness of grief.    I bring my friend back to life in fiction, the same way Jesus’ lover John and his followers created stories to comfort themselves.  Jack McCarthy http://www.standupoet.net/, Dane Kuttler http://www.danepoetry.com/, Morris Stegosaurus, Tye the Guy, Evan Dunn, and three other poets for cash prizes.  Phil Long, creator of the Jesus Slam, will be the feature.

Thursday, May 17, at 7 p.m., Ethnic Cultural Theater, 3940 Brooklyn Ave Seattle 98105.  All ages.  Free.
